Last week’s Coastal Courier story regarding Delano Clancy led the 21-year-old Hinesville man to turn himself in after hearing from his family that the police were looking for him. The arrest of Clancy has encouraged the Multi Agency Crack Enforcement Drug Task Force to again ask for community support in locating a person wanted for probation violations and drug charges.

According to MACE unit Commander Al Cato, authorities are looking for Earl Legette, who was last seen in the Hinesville area on Nov. 15.

Legette faces new charges of sale of a controlled substance (cocaine), and will face probation violations. A probations warrant is expected to be filed.

Legette was originally charged and arrested on Sept. 24, 2005, on one count of violating the Georgia Substance Control Act for possessing cocaine. He was also charged with one count of possession of tools for the commission of a crime, when he was found with a set of digital scales, and one count of fleeing and eluding police.

He posted bond of $4,000 on Sept. 26, 2005. The Liberty County Grand Jury indicted Legette on Feb. 13, 2007, and he entered a plea of not guilty during his arraignment hearing April 9.

On March 10th, he changed his plea to guilty and was sentenced to five years probation and ordered to pay $1,500 in fines.

According to Cato, he faces three new counts of possession of a controlled substance, and his probation officer will work on revoking his probation and issuing a warrant.

Legette’s last known address is in the Holmestown area of Midway. It is a residence that reportedly belongs to his mother and grandmother. Legette is known to have ties in McIntosh County and a job somewhere in the Jesup area.

He is described as a 6-foot-1, 285-pound black male, with a scar on his right cheek. He is known to carry a handgun.  Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call 911 or the MACE office at 877-4040.
