You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen.  But do you recall Jack Sprat, who ate no fat; his wife who ate no lean?
If you’re like most of us, and need to brush up on your nursery rhymes, Frank Long Elementary School has just the holiday help for you.  It’s an original play, "Mother Goose’s Christmas," and it’s full of the nursery rhyme characters you remember,  and some that may be new to you.
The magic begins at 6 p.m., with a light meal of nachos in the Frank Long cafeteria. Around 6:30 p.m., the action enfolds in the gym, with Mother Goose planning her annual Nursery Rhyme Land Christmas Party.  Unfortunately, Jackie Sprat’s husband has gone on a diet, turning everything topsy-turvy.  And Jackie is eating everything in sight, which just happens to be all the food for Mother Goose’s party.
Fourth- and fifth-graders will perform the play on Dec. 16 at a PTO Showcase.  There is no cost for the meal, but fifth-graders will sell cookies and cocoa for a combined price of $1. There will also be a $1 per person charge for the show. Proceeds will offset costs of a fifth-grade trip to the Jekyll Island 4H Center in January.
