Lewis Frasier Middle School’s First in Math teams are striving to maintain and improve their rankings in the state and nation. Team Orbit, which is comprised of sixth-graders, and Team Congo, which is made up of seventh- and eighth-graders, are ranked first and second in the state, and 12th and 13th nationally.
Another First in Math Night was held on Nov. 7. More than 35 students participated and earned more than 4,700 points combined.  Prizes were awarded for students beginning the night with the most points, and students earning the most points during the three-hour marathon. Prize drawings were held for students who earned at least 2,500 points individually.
Hyeon Lee and Terrance Lewis won the prize for having the most points for their team. Johnny Riddle and Tristan Sutton won the prize for earning the most points during the First in Math Night.  Terrance Lewis also won the special drawing for students with 2,500 points or more.
The students enjoyed the night and would like to express sincere gratitude to McDonald’s and Wal-Mart for supporting their teams.  McDonald’s provided hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and hot apple pies. Wal-Mart provided gift cards that were awarded to students.
Keep it up Team Congo and Team Orbit! The competition continues through April 30, 2009.
