MLK festivities are set for Jan. 16-19. The events will promote individual and corporate responsibility to fulfill the dreams and ideals of King and others, said Rev. Alvin Jackson, the president of the Liberty County MLK Observance Association.
Jackson said the community has always been supportive of the events, and he hopes more people will come out this year.
The celebration will feature a theatrical production by Liberty County Commissioner Donald Lovette, a youth night and a leadership breakfast. It will close with a parade and commemorative service Jan. 19 at Bradwell Institute’s gym.
Local organizations, businesses and churches are expected to participate in the parade. Over the years, both the parade and the commemorative service have attracted hundreds of people from all over the county,
Jackson said.
Hesaid last year’s theatrical production, youth night and leadership breakfast brought in a record crowd of supporters and participants.
“We hope to garner more and more support as people see the need to not only come together, but change their own worlds,” said Jackson.
