Long County residents had plenty of options for celebrating Valentine's Day last weekend.
On Feb. 12, Long County High School had its 2009 Miss Sweetheart and Junior Miss Sweetheart Pageants, where some lovely ladies showed off their Valentine's dresses.
Kelly Long took home the Miss Sweetheart Crown. First, second, third and fourth runners-up were Kellie Harper, Brittany Chapman, Sarah Gonzalez and Liz Schwab, respectively.
The Junior Miss Division crown went to Ashley Murphy. First, second, third and fourth runners-up were Mary Moses, Xena Lewallen, Shelby Clark and Sierra Fernandez.
On Friday, Celebration Castle had its second annual couples' night. About 40 couples came out to eat, visit, dance, play games and log some quality time together.
A photographer took photos of happy pairs, and couples also had the opportunity to renew wedding vows.
The event was organized by Linda and Charlie Smith.
For Chuck and Annette Abbey, who own the castle, it was a perfect way to celebrate their 33rd wedding anniversary.
On Valentine's Day, professional harpist Lindy Johnson performed at the Clubhouse In Rye Patch.
Johnson, who has performed with symphonies in Texas, Utah, California and Hawaii, played plenty of romantic ballads for all the couples in attendance, in addition to some show tunes, and music from the '40s and '50s.
The harpist is currently working on a new CD, and can be contacted for bookings at mic1lin1@aol.com or at (912) 228-2601.
