Charlotte Goff recently retired from Coastal Communications after serving the company for a 45 years.
“For one to work 45 years in a single industry is nearly unheard of but to have worked 45 years with the same company is extraordinary. It speaks volumes for both the employee and the organization,” Durand Standard, president of Coastal Communications, said.
Goff began her career with Coastal Communications in 1962 as an operator and at the time of her retirement was an administrator in the operations network field.
Her experience has evolved from party lines and operator cord boards to single party digitally switched lines with auto attendant voice recognition operators to broadband, Wi-fi, Internet protocol TV, etc.
Goff expressed mixed emotions about retirement.
“I’m very happy to be retiring,” she said, “but I’m also a little bit sad. Everyone at Coastal Communications has meant a great deal to me.”
“We wish Mrs. Goff the very best life has to offer in her retirement ... if anyone ever deserved it, she does,” Standard said.
