Back in the old days, tent revivals used to be very popular. Across the county, you could see traveling evangelists and their caravans set up tents in designated spots for a week or two. People would come from miles around just to be a part of the revival services.
While they’re not as popular as they used to be, periodically, you will find a tent revival in Liberty County. Last year, the House of Prayer Christian Church of America held a revival in the fall. This year, they’ll host another one during Holy Week.
Monday-Thursday, April 6-9, Pastor A.F. Bradeen and the members of House of Prayer will have their semi-annual national conference and host an old-time camp meeting as part of the 2009 spring gathering. The theme for the revival is “Go Reach the World.”
The revival will be at 2275 W. Highway 196, at the intersection of Curtis Road and Highway 196, in Hinesville. Services will be at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. On Monday, April 6, the conference will open with an ingathering prayer meeting at 7:30 p.m.
“We will be lifting up the name of Jesus in a time of prayer, praise and consecration. We are eagerly awaiting what the Lord will do as we gather in His presence, not to lift up a church name or denomination, but to lift up the name of Jesus,” Bradeen said.
Following the nightly 7:30 services, people will return to the church for fellowship and refreshments. House of Prayer is at 2540 Airport Road.
The Hinesville church was established in January 2004, with Bradeen as the pastor. The church boasts a multi-cultural congregation, which consists of people from Nigeria, Cameroon, Kenya, Trinidad, Mexico and many other places.
“People are the same regardless of race, creed or color. It takes the same Holy Spirit to lead them to Christ,” Bradeen said.  “We covet your prayers for this upcoming conference. Everyone is invited.”
“We are inviting all to come and be a part of this revival,” said the Rev. Gerard Robertson, a minister at House of Prayer. “We will be lifting up Christ through preaching, teaching and singing.”
