MACE blotter for April 22

POSTED: April 22, 2009 10:41 a.m.
According to the Multi Agency Crack Enforcement Drug Task Force Unit Commander Al Cato, his agents were called in to help deputies on March 6 after they stopped a vehicle headed north on I-95, reportedly weaving and speeding. Cato said there were several occupants in the vehicle. During a brief investigation, agents and deputies arrested the driver, Jeremy Gunter, for DUI. Authorities searched the car and found each occupant had several large quantities of prescriptions for a schedule three controlled drug. Cato said the prescriptions had all been filled in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Elmer Holbert and Nicholas Brown were charged with several counts of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. The agents also found several unfilled written prescriptions.

March 9

Cato said his agents were asked to check a residence on Peter King Road in Riceboro where, it was reported, Daniel West, a man with several outstanding warrants for other charges, was seen. As agents approached the residence, West was spotted running out the back door into a wooded area. He was caught and the agents noticed what appeared to be marijuana plants growing in the area. Thirteen suspected plants were seized. He was charged with manufacturing marijuana, obstruction and will face his outstanding warrants.

March 19

Acting on anonymous tips, Cato sent agents to a house at 216 Robin Road. Cato said they had received several calls about suspicious activity at the house. MACE agents went to speak to homeowner Teaki Seals, who was lounging on a chair inside the garage. Cato said as the agents walked up they noticed what appeared to be partially smoked marijuana cigarettes and found a container with the suspected drug. The suspect tried to run, but was apprehended. He faces charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, tools of the crime and misdemeanor obstruction of a law enforcement officer. Agents seized 36 grams of the suspected drug pre-packaged in small bags. They also confiscated a set of digital scales, smoking devices and drug related paraphernalia.

March 19

According to Cato, LCSO deputies stopped a bus heading south on I-95 for reportedly speeding. The agents spoke with the driver and walked a drug dog around the bus. The dog alerted the agents to the luggage compartment and the agents found a bag containing hash, marijuana and $23,000 in cash. Passenger Robert Soto was arrested and faces charges of possession of hash, possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute hash and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

April 6
Agents were called to an Independence Place residence after apartment managers reported they were inspecting a unit and discovered what looked like drugs. Cato said agents later recovered what they suspect was 14.2 grams of marijuana packaged for sale. Anthony Morton, the tenant, was charged with possession with intent to distribute.
