Two men are facing theft charges in Long County following their arrests in separate incidents.

Weapons stolen
According to the Long County Sheriff’s Department, Ray Griner Jr. was arrested April 23 in connection with the theft of three weapons that had been reported stolen from a residence in the Rye Patch area.
Long County Chief Det. Ty Smith reported John Maue, Griner’s former roommate, reported the weapons missing from his residence.
Maue told authorities the guns belonged to a friend who had asked him to keep them for him, and he believed Griner had taken them.
Working with Hinesville Police, Smith determined a pawnshop receipt for the weapons had Griner’s name on it. The guns were obtained from the pawnshop and the weapons’ owner, Jason Phelps, identified them.
After Griner was arrest, the detective said, Griner admitted to taking the weapons. He is currently out on bond and awaiting trial.

Stolen vehicle
Christopher A. Tilley was charged with theft by taking-auto, after he allegedly stole a 1984 Dodge Van from Lisa Huhn, and then sold it.
According to Smith, Tilley stated his grandmother had given the vehicle to him, and he then sold it to Keith Ellison. Smith interviewed Tilley’s grandmother and she denied having given him the vehicle.
A warrant for Tilley was obtained, and he was arrested April 16.
Hee is currently in jail, awaiting trial. The vehicle was returned to Huhn.
