Here are some of the issues area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not know if they are true, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

People, be aware. At 2:56 p.m. today I got a call claiming from AT&T. I thought it was for sales and was expecting to hear press 1 or 2 for a selection. But it said enter a number to pay an overdue phone bill. I have no service with AT&T and I called them, but they didn’t know about it.

I wish the police would come by the corner of Inwood and Timber Ridge Trail and have the person who puts a basketball court out there for, I’m talking about little kids out there, to play ball in to stop doing it. Somebody is going to get hurt and we can’t get anyone to do anything about it.

Nothing makes me madder than to see how far America has come and then see everybody still complaining about black and white in the last issue the of the paper. We need to grow up, stand together and stop complaining.

I don’t object to the city council approving the bid for the two new signs. That’s a lot of money, but I don’t understand. What I don’t know is how we can spend that much money and not enforce ordinances that reflect bad on the city. That is junk cars in yards, motors in yards, just all kinds of stuff.

I really think the high salaried employees in Hinesville should be replaced. They’ve been here too long and pay no attention to the neighborhoods or the taxpayers who pay their salaries. They won’t even answer calls.

Kudos to county commissioners for addressing the problems of unsightly items and trash in the county and the clean up of such. I only hope the city council in Hinesville will take a look in the city. We are worse off than the county, if you look in the neighborhoods.

The county could have used the money they spent on that monstrosity of a board of education building on a civic center to use for graduations on days when it rains. And it could be used for other things like art and performances.

Isn’t it shame? The taxpayers’ money seems to be wasted. There are three courthouses in Hinesville and apparently we don’t have an auditorium to house at least a thousand people for graduation services and other things when it rains.
