I-95 wreck kills one, injures one

POSTED: July 6, 2009 9:30 a.m.
A three-vehicle accident on I-95 Friday night killed one person and injured another.
Georgia State Patrol Communications Officer Ray Howard said the crash occurred about 10:50 p.m. northbound on the interstate at mile marker 71.
The names of the victims had not been released
Saturday afternoon. Both were in the same vehicle and are believed to be from Jacksonville. The injured woman was flown by LifeStar to Memorial Medical University Health Center in Savannah. A man in the same vehicle, a 2002 Ford Explorer, was pronounced dead at the scene, Howard said.
They apparently lost control of their SUV when it was rear-ended by a 2008 Infinity driven by Benjamin Concepcion, 29, of Savannah. That spun the Explorer out of control and into a 1999 Ford Expedition in the adjacent lane. The Explorer continued onto the median and rammed into a tree.
The third vehicle was driven by Alexander Cooper, 32, of Miami.
There were no reports of injuries to him or to Concepcion. The woman’s condition was not available Saturday.
Howard said the crash is still under investigation and any charges are still just pending.
