Clyde E. Layton and the Rev. Glenda F. Layton, in the presence of their family and friends, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary June 27 with a reaffirmation ceremony at Bethel AME Church. Elder Henry Frasier Sr. officiated.
The couple’s bridal party consisted of Monique D. Layton, daughter of the couple, as maid of honor and Clyde E. Layton Jr., son of the couple, as best man. Helen Layton of Kansas City, Mo., mother of the groom, was honored at the ceremony. Eleven bridesmaids and 10 groomsmen also stood at the alter with the couple.
Serving as ushers were Christopher Broomfield, Demetrius Stinson and  Julian Stokes. Mariyah Maize was the flower girl and Makalya Maize was the bell ringer. Paul J. Brown was the ring bearer.
During the ceremony, a memorial was presented in honor of the bride’s mother and father and the groom's father. Alzie Walker played “The Prayer” on a French horn as Tamera Taylor read a poem.
A reception was held after the ceremony at the Marne Club Ballroom on Fort Stewart, where guests watched a DVD of the couple’s original wedding.
Mr. and Mrs. Layton attribute their years of longevity to putting God first in their lives. The couple thanked everyone who attended the ceremony for their love and support.
