The child was about to become a Mexican national. Yet, because of an illegal action by the child’s mother, the child was born an American citizen. How did this happen? The child’s mother illegally crossed the border from Mexico into the United States.  She had her child on American soil. This woman waited at the boarder until she was ready to deliver and then crossed over. According to the Constitution, the child automatically becomes an American citizen.
Is this fair? Of course not. Yet, it happens over 300,000 times a year. When the 14th amendment was ratified in 1868, it was written to protect native-born black Americans whose rights were being denied. Sen. Jacob Howard clearly spelled out the intent of this amendment, when he stated, “Every person born within the limits of the United States is by virtue of natural law a citizen of the United States. This will not include persons who are foreigners, aliens ... (abbreviated)”  Note the word “alien.”
Today, Mexican women are having more babies in the U.S. than in Mexico. Why?  Their child is automatically made a U.S. citizen if born on American soil. These women plan illegal entry into the U.S. The parents and the baby’s siblings are now allowed to remain in the States and become citizens. The average Mexican family consists of four to six people. Using a little arithmetic, we find that every year the population increases by 1.2 to 1.8 million Hispanics.
Just look at the cost to us as taxpayers.  The average cost to deliver a baby is $2,800. Again, we multiply this by 300,000 and the bill to the American taxpayer is $840 million. Since the liberal Supreme Court ruled that these kids be educated, we can add another $3.1 billion in taxes. Don’t forget the welfare they collect and the cost of medical care. In fact, the cost of giving illegal aliens free medical care in our emergency rooms has bankrupted many hospitals. In California alone, 84 hospitals had to close. The hospitals are forced by the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act of 1985 to take care of these people, and the hospitals are not reimbursed for their services.
Another problem is not well publicized but extreme deadly. Many illegal aliens harbor fatal diseases we vanquished long ago in this country. Now, we are seeing cases of TB, malaria, leprosy, plague, polio and dengue fever. About 10 million illegal aliens do not have health insurance. This figure could be as high as 20 million since we do not have an accurate count of the illegals.
As these babies grow up in poverty, they turn to gangs and crime. Illegal drugs become prevalent. And the spiral goes on and on. Where it will stop, no one knows.  The only thing we can be sure of is these “anchor babies” will bankrupt the country, if the 14th amendment is not modified.
An anchor baby is one that is born in this country to immigrants, who are not American citizens. Because the baby is considered an American citizen, it “anchors” the family. Granting automatic American citizenship draws immigrants from all over the world.  Roughly 10 perceent of all births are to immigrants. Liberal politicians have subverted the Constitution and allowed citizenship to any child born in this country even if they are illegal. This is a deliberate manipulation by liberals to gain more voters who support liberal views.
Whenever someone wants to close the borders, send illegals back to Mexico or refuse citizenship to these anchor babies, they are seen as racists. Everything today is racist. The government is powerless to implement our laws without being called racists. This word should be removed from our dictionaries and banned from use. Protecting our way of life and our country is not racist.
Rep. Nathan Deal introduced bill HR 698 to amend the 14th Amendment. It died in committee. It’s time to bring this bill back from the dead. We need to wake up before it is too late.
