The First Baptist Church of Ludowici had its second annual kid’s day camp last week. The campers focused on the topics of power, protection and wisdom from noon-2:45 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
“The camp is an outreach for us and it brings in kids who we don’t usually see. It gives us the opportunity to share Christ with them,” said youth minister Josh Caines.
Each day, campers ate lunch, learned a lesson, watched a video, particpated in activity time and played games, including taking turns on a water slide and staging a water balloon fight.
Jennifer Fonseca, who lives in the Rye Patch community, said, “Last year, I brought my kids out here and they had such a good time that when it rolled around this year, we came back. But I also brought one of my kid’s friends, my nephew and two nieces.”
She added, “This church has a great program for the kids, they put together all kinds of events, and you know that your kids are in a safe and good environment.”
Jennifer Deen, 16, attends First Baptist and she brought her cousin, Delany Williams, 4.
“The kids get to get out of the house and not just sit around and watch TV. They also are here having a good time and learning about God,” Deen said.
The day camp was open to children in second through sixth grade. Younger children also were permitted if they had an adult chaperone. According to Caines, 18 campers participated this year.
