Sound off for Aug. 5

POSTED: August 5, 2009 10:25 a.m.

Here are some of the issues area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not know if they are true, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

Once again, for the third month in a row, CenturyTel has raised our phone bill. This time it was 22 cents and they called it a universal fee. I think these are phantom fees they just come up with so they can get another dollar here and another there

Mr. Kenneth Howard, Mr. Jim Thomas, please, somebody do something about the water bills. These people have absolutely no mercy and I’m sure you guys can relate.

OK, if Condoleeza Rice is coming to Fort Stewart for women’s equality day, when will the public know, where can we get tickets, will it be free. Just share the information, we want to know.

If anyone wants to see what city officials did down on Jekyll Island this week all they have to do is go to city hall and ask for travel expense report. It’s available through open records act to all citizens.

The mayor, city council and them are able to afford their annual trip to Jekyll Island because you pay taxes.

While I agree that the trip to Jekyll Island was a waste of taxpayer dollars, I think we need to focus on why the city is continuing to building houses on Azalea Street.

In reference to the new logo of the development authority: Gee, how nice that is. I want to know when they are going to pay back the $33 million they are in debt.
