All the way from Wrexham, Wales, Sarah Pugh, a Georgia Rotary Student Program participant, spoke to the Hinesville club Tuesday about her experience studying in the United States.
Rotary currently is sponsoring Pugh’s education at Armstrong Atlantic State University, where she’s taking a full course load.
She said one of her favorite classes is jewelry design because she gets to indulge her inner artist.
“We’re all very artsy,” Pugh said of her family, which includes a twin sister who is also currently studying in Georgia through GRSP at Middle College of Georgia.
Pugh said upon arriving in Georgia, she was most surprised at how hot it was and by some unfamiliar traffic signals.
“Every time I see a stop sign I laugh,” she said. “Even if no one’s around, you have stop.”
In her presentation, Pugh showed Rotarians pictures of her pets back home, including a dog, cat and tortoise.
“I miss them more than anything,” she said.
