The National Association of Letter Carriers hosted its annual food drive May 12 in Liberty County.
Collecting a little more than 10,000 pounds of food, the Hinesville Post Office, in conjunction with the United Way, distributed the food to the Liberty County Manna House and New Life Family Church.
Non-perishable food items were collected from residents who were asked to leave food beside their mailboxes so the letter carriers could pick it up while on their rounds.
The National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive Day is carried out in more than 10,000 cities and towns across America, collecting non-perishable food donations from their postal customers.
The food drive is the largest one-day drive of its kind in the world.
