At  its Tuesday meeting, the Liberty County Commission approved a motion to begin the clearing and grading stage for a three-building, 206,787-square-foot manufacturing facility in the Tradeport East Business Park across from the Target Distribution Center.
The Liberty County Development Authority is developing the project. Ron Tolley, LCDA CEO, said the advanced manufacturing plant will have 200 employees. The name of the company that will occupy the facility, however, won’t be released yet due to a confidentiality agreement.
“Unfortunately we can’t release that information at this time,” Tolley said. “But
it’s not because they are uncertain.”
The commissioners all voted in favor of the motion without asking any questions of the LCDA.
The construction project, dubbed Project Thunder, includes the three-building complex, a paved employee parking lot, a paved truck area and access consisting of a 1,000-foot, two-lane road.
The LCDA will provide the sewer and water for the project.  
The morning after the board passed the motion, District 3 Commissioner Connie Thrift said she didn’t know what company is building facility.
“We know some of the details, but we don’t know what company is going in there,” Thrift said “As long as there are jobs in Liberty County, I’m happy. Two-hundred jobs is a good thing.”
Thomas and Hutton Engineering will design the facility. Calls to the firm about the project’s cost were not returned.
