Sound off for Nov. 22

POSTED: November 23, 2009 10:11 a.m.

Here are some of the issues area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the caller:

When a child’s parents have been put in prison are there any benefits for the family from the government? I’ve been asked for a donation to help children whose parents are in prison.

Just because the president is taking his time deciding on the troops doesn’t mean he’s a sissy. It might mean he cares more for the troops than the past president who rushed into Iraq before winning in Afghanistan.

I’m a retired U.S. Army Vietnam veteran. Near the Savannah armory they have a field of flags representing abused children. I say teddy bears represent abused children. Flags represent the American fighting patriotism soldier.

To the Vietnam veteran, what president had you involved in that war? Probably one who didn’t try to think the situation through, unlike the current president on Afghanistan.
