The Department of Defense on Sunday announced the deaths of two 3rd Infantry Division soldiers serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Cpl. Victor Toledo-Pulido, 22, of Hanford, Calif., and Cpl. Jonathan Winterbottom, 21, of Falls Church, Va., died May 23 after suffering wounds from an improvised explosive device that detonated near their vehicle in Al-Nahrawan, Iraq.
Both soldiers were assigned to 3d Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized), Fort Benning.
According to icasualties.org, a Web site dedicated to documenting the number of casualties suffered in Operation Iraqi Freedom, the total number of confirmed U.S. troop deaths in Iraq now stands at 3,456.
