Ludowici had its 20th annual Christmas parade last Saturday. The fun began at 2 p.m. as floats and marchers left Long County High School and circled the city. Tammy Ballance and Charlie Strickland emc eed the event.
This year’s parade had 46 entries. The Hinesville Area Board of Realtors won first place in the float competition with its “Christmas on the coast open house” theme. Jones Creek Baptist Church won second place with a “Christmas then and now” float, and third place went to Ludowici United Methodist Church for its “don’t miss the boat” entry.
After the parade, Santa Claus dropped by the old train depot for a visit. Children lined up to pose for photos with Santa and share their Christmas lists. Mrs. Claus tagged along and handed out stuffed animals to children.
This year’s parade was organized and sponsored by the Long County Wildlife Festival Committee and headed up by Beverly Johnson and Becky Fowler.
“Even with the chilly winds, the parade was a success,” Johnson said. “Thanks to everyone who helped put this together in such a short time.”
