Hinesville detectives are still investigating the shooting death of Damon Andrea Hardy, 21, an Augusta man shot in the early morning hours at the Regency Terrace apartment complex on Tuesday.
Hardy was reportedly in town visiting his mother who lives either in Hinesville or Fort Stewart. According to statements taken from witnesses, there was an end-of-school-year party at building 1106 when an argument started between several men and a man everyone called “Smoke.”
Hardy walked downstairs to ask the group to quiet down or take the fight elsewhere, when a single shot was heard and Hardy dropped to the floor. Everyone fled and witnesses said they did not see who fired the shot.
Hardy was discovered face down with blood coming from his mouth and nose by police officer who were dispatched to the scene.
