The Charity flea market and jail event to benefit the Kirk Healing Center is set for tomorrow after paperwork issues forced delays several weeks ago.
The flea market will run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at 1009 E. Oglethorpe Highway and will offer clothes, shoes, furniture, kitchen items, appliances, books and more. Baked goods will also be available. There will be activities for children, including horse rides.
In addition to the goods up for sale, the event will feature a charity jail, where business leaders from the community will be “arrested” and can only be freed when someone donates their bail money. Proceeds go to the center.
Doug Franks is among those scheduled to be arrested.
The Kirk Healing Center is a 501 C3, nonprofit, organization in Hinesville dedicated to providing a safe, live-in environment for homeless people in the Liberty County area.
The center was founded by Dr. Alicia Kirk, who spent 20 years in Australia working in healing centers that she developed. Upon the death of her husband, she returned to Georgia and with the help of Pastor Nancy Kornegay and several community leaders and businessmen, they set up the Kirk Healing Center.
The center provides training and education to help clients become independent and self-reliant, free them of addictions through counseling and make them Georgia Work Ready certified.
