Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Phillips cut the ribbon on Hunter Army Airfield’s new School-Aged Youth Services Center during a ceremony last Friday.
The $6.8 million facility is 20,500 square feet and can serve 150 children for before- and after-school care and during the summer. The facility also will be used for dances, cultural observances and gymnastics.
Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield won the Army’s Community of Excellence Award for the past four years. The award designates the installation as a premier location for military families to live and work, according to installation officials. The SAYS Center being added to the post’s infrastructure should help sustain that reputation, they said.
