The Goldenheirs, a senior group that meets at First Baptist Church of Hinesville once a month, recently hosted Dr. Brian J. Hawkins, administrator for the Baxley campus of the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home and Family Ministries.
The Baxley campus, which serves Liberty, Chatham and other counties, is one of three ministry locations that serves children, youth and family members who are struggling. Children may live at the home until they are 18 years old or until they can be returned to their families.
Programs at the homes include worship-centered activities of personal development, spiritual growth and family rehabilitation. Residents receive medical and dental care, counseling and psychological services.
The Baptist Children’s Homes are supported by churches as well as contributing individuals and businesses.
Goldenheirs will meet again at noon Tuesday, April 6, for a covered-dish lunch and meeting that features the Hinesville Fire Department. All seniors are invited to participate in the lunch and program.
