First Baptist Church of Hinesville recently participated in the Buckets Of Hope campaign, a relief effort spearheaded by the Southern Baptist Convention Disaster Relief and the North American Mission Board.
FBC Hinesville members bought several five-gallon buckets and filled them with food items such as rice, black beans, cooking oil, peanut butter and spaghetti noodles — enough in each container to feed one family for a week. The bucket itself can be used for holding water or storing items. The cost to fill each bucket was $30, plus $10 for shipping. They were sent off March 15 to be distributed to earthquake victims.
