Thursday evening's Census Day party in Main Street Park ended a daylong tour of the county by Census workers to to draw attention to the ongoing count of the country's population.
According to Liberty County's Census coordinator Kathy Poole the tour went well, a lot of people attended the various events.
Chrislene Nelson-Taylor, who is the director of the Liberty County Senior Center, said she and her husband as her husband, Don Taylor, were riding by on their motorized "tricycle," and stopped to see what the party was about. And, she said, she was glad she did because she was able to pick up promotional items to hand out at the center.
Poole said April 1 was the deadline for mailing back Census forms, but residents still have until April 12 to mail them back and avoid having workers attempt to contact them at home.
