Here are some of the issues area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

This is really sad. The president of Armstrong Atlantic State University can go on the news and give all the information of what departments they are closing, yet they can’t keep their faculty in the know of what’s going on. There have been no meetings.

Way to go, board of education. Budget cuts and furlough days to save money, yet we hire an auto detail company owned by an employee of the school system to wash the board cars. What’s up with that?

Anyone going through the speed trap of Richmond Hill, whether they’re going over the speed limit or under it, will be fined. You need to be careful of the speed trap.

They’ll bail out the auto industry. We bail out the banks and Wall Street. We have to have car insurance, but we don’t want health insurance for everybody.

Regarding the notice in Sunday’s Courier identifying locations for free Census help: If one doesn’t have the ability to complete the simple Census form, they certainly are not qualified to vote.

Read your Bible. Disciples and other people in the Bible drank wine. Priests and nuns drink wine. It is not a sin to have a drink once in a while.

When you get older, it’s not as easy to lose weight as when you were younger. But I’m not going to have surgery to lose weight. All you have to do is back away from food, not eat and stay active.

There should be no raises on the council. We are having hard times, people. I say vote all those people out. We don’t need money-grubbers in office.
