SAVANNAH — The Universal Newborn Hearing Screening and Intervention Conference will be from 9 a.m.-noon Monday, May 24, at the Chatham County Health Department, 1395 Eisenhower Dr. in Savannah. Attendees will discuss how to provide the best possible care for infants who may have hearing issues.

“The mission of UNHSI is to provide a comprehensive system of universal newborn hearing screening and assure early detection for hard of hearing and deaf children,” UNHSI Program Coordinator Mesha Brown said. “This conference is designed so that members of the general public and medical professionals can raise questions and concerns and share their ideas.”
UNHSI is part of the Department of Community Health, Department of Public Health Children’s Special Services program. Programs under CSS focus on the identification of children considered to be at high risk for poor health, possible developmental delays, disabling medical conditions and infants with possible hearing loss.
