JESUP — In December 2009, Dr. J. Lex Kenerly III broke ground on a new office. The new, 15,000-square-foot facility at 1505 Sunset Blvd. in Jesup is slated to open in September, and will be called The Bone and Joint Institute of South Georgia.
Kenerly, a Jesup native, has practiced orthopaedic surgery at 811 S. First St. for more than 22 years. “I’m blessed to be able to pursue this dream. The support of our patients and the whole community has given us the opportunity to grow and expand, and we’re so grateful. I’m excited for everyone to see the new space, and experience all of the latest technology, along with the personal attention they’ve come to expect from us,” Kenerly said.
The doctor plans to host a ribbon-cutting and open house closer to the move-in date, and said he’s looking forward to seeing friends and colleagues.
Kenerly specializes in sports medicine and total joint replacements of the hip, knee and shoulder. He is a graduate of Wayne Country High School, the University of Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine. After medical school, he completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at the Greenville Hospital System and Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children in Greenville, S.C., and returned to his hometown to open his practice.
