Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

 

I disagree with the caller who said Puerto Ricans are United States citizens. How can they be when Puerto Rico is not even a state?

To the caller that we need a breakfast place since Shoney’s closed: We have Poole’s.

I agree with Native Americans returning home because we took the land from them, but that doesn’t include others who never lived here before.

Three birth announcements in the paper, two hispanic and one black. Who’s the minority now?

In response to the caller about a breakfast place, there is Willie Mae’s in Midway. It has excellent food and serves breakfast in a cup.

The road in between Highway 84 and 17 over here, 196, it’s a great thing they are doing. But I’m wondering if the contractor will pay for my front- end realignment because they have such a big bump where they are redoing that bridge.
