Anglers will get two chances to follow their passion for fun and prizes later this month in Liberty County.

The Spotted Sea Trout Tournament is set for July 21 in conjunction with the annual Liberty Fest. The festival itself is two days, July 20-21, of arts and crafts, historical re-enactment, kayak races and more in Hinesville and around Sunbury on the coast.
The fishing tournament starts at 6 a.m. July 21, with a captains meeting at 7 the night before at the Shrimp Docks in Sunbury. Registration costs $35 per person, with an additional $20 to compete in a Redfish Calcutta, and are due by 4 p.m. July 19 at the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce or at the captains meeting.
Participants musto have Georgia fishing licenses. Children, 5-14 years old, will compete in the junior division and can win up to $100 for the biggest fish caught.
If there are at least 50 adult division anglers the prizes will be $500 for first place overall based on the three biggest fish; $250 for second place on three fish; $150 for third on three fish. The Calcutta will pay out $300 for the largest redfish. And the top lady angler with the biggest fish will win $150. Each of the adult winners will also receive a Budweiser gift pack.
Check-in will start at 2 p.m. and will end at 4, after which winners will be announced.
With their registration anglers will get passes to the festival and T-shirts, as well as other gifts.

The Summer Slammer Fishing Tournament to benefit the Lady Panthers Diamond Club is set for July 28. The club is boosters for Liberty County High School’s girls fast pitch softball team.
The tournament also focuses on trout with Calcuttas for the biggest bass and flounder.
The entry is $75 per boat with three anglers. The prizes in the trout division will be $1,000 for first place and $300 for second. Activities will center on the Shrimp Docks at Sunbury.
