Sound off for July 30

POSTED: July 30, 2010 9:22 a.m.

Here are some of the issues area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

I was reading the Coastal Courier about Hinesville promoting a city magazine so people would know we’re here and what’s going on. People already know we’re here from the junk cars and trash and weeds growing so high. The city’s just going down hill.

I wanted to attend the LibertyFest, but I changed my mind after I found out it was $5 to get in and $10 after 5. And on top of that, my kids would have still had to pay to get on the rides.

It’s a shame kids spend all their life going to high school here, graduate, go off to college, come back in five-six years, but can’t find a job. They say it’s who you know, but sometimes that doesn’t work.

LibertyFest back better than ever, was that a joke? And then to charge folks to get in and not list the prices on the fliers they had all over town.

I agree with the lady from Lake George considering the rural polycart service. This polycart idea is just another way to collect more money. We’re paying $166 to $105 per year for the garbage dumps we’ve already got.

Courier, where was our sample ballot this year? How can we go to the polls without? I sure do miss it. I don’t know who I’ll vote for now.
