Sound off for Sept. 5

POSTED: September 6, 2010 11:40 a.m.

Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

To the mother whining and crying about her child having Saturday practice: Bradwell football team is not a babysitting service. That’s what a lot of parents think it is now.

At the beginning of fourth grade, each student takes the ITBS test. If they happen to get too many nines they go into the gifted class automatically. They stay there even if they have poor grades. Nobody retests them and that’s what’s wrong with the Georgia system.

I’m sick and tired of everything being put in two languages in America. Even the school paperwork, one side English, the other Spanish. If you can’t speak English then the American dollar doesn’t need to pay for you going to school.

I wish the VFW could do something about these cigarette smokers, especially on steak night.

Good job, sheriff. In just a few months you’ve managed to use the “screw-up, you move up policy,” according to your last name.

It’s amazing how Walmart can run a sale, but the employees get to the sale items first and know when they will be on sale before the general public can even get them.

I wish families living in Cherokee Rose would clean up their properties and act like they belong here. This used to be the cleanest neighborhood in Hinesville, but not anymore.
