Fishing season looking up

POSTED: August 14, 2007 5:01 a.m.
The weather continues to stay hot, however, I believe our fishing season has started, judging from the fishing reports I have received this past week. The fishermen are catching bass, trout and flounder.
I received one offshore fishing report. Hal Rowland and party landed 14 Spanish mackerel. All of the fishing reports were given to me by Rayburn Goodman, operator of the Yellow Bluff Fishing Camp.
Richard and Harry Bland landed 15 whiteing and eight flounder. David Schaijlen Ford caught eight trout. Neil Howard and party landed 18 trout and seven flounder. Bill Forehand was fishing with his wife when he caught nine trout, three flounder and two bass.
Billy Kirk, fishing with Phillip McCallar, landed 16 trout, two flounder and five bass. Jimmy Ginn, fishing with Joey Franklin and David Mathis, caught 11 trout, six flounder, and three bass. Phillip Bohan, fishing with his wife, landed 15 trout, four flounder, and eight whiteing.
My grandson, Rodney Hall, fishing with Alan Filligam in the Shrimp Docks Trout and Bass Tournament, won second prize with the catch of trout.
Well, my friends, it looks like our fall fishing has started. Goodman reported having locals who caught live shrimp and live minnows.
Now is the time to go fishing while the fish are biting.
Just remember, if you do go fishing, to always keep a tight line.
