Midway center about half funded

Facility to have library, pool, playground

POSTED: December 20, 2010 1:12 p.m.

The Midway City Council at a recent meeting received a preview of plans for the library, swimming pool, picnic area, walking trail and playground slated to be built at the former Liberty Elementary School site. Midway’s city government temporarily occupies part of the LES complex, which is now owned by the county.
County Administrator Joey Brown and architect David Holton of Buckley & Associates told the council no completion date has been set for the project, which will be funded by the Special Local Option Sales Tax.
Brown said the county had accumulated about half of the SPLOST funds needed to start phase one of the construction.
