Plans are in the works for a second Gary Guyton Sports Festival, according to the NFL player’s publicist.

Earlier this year, more than 200 children participated in the first festival, and the New England Patriots linebacker recently announced plans for another one in 2011, said Greg Benton of Flying Color Sports.

Guyton, who played at Bradwell and Georgia Tech, is hosting the event as part of his Adopt-A-High School Initiative, which offers academic and ACT/SAT assistance to under-privileged students.

He plans to host a kick-off party at Doodles, 105 W. Gen. Screven Way, at 8 p.m. March 11. The party is open to adults and children but limited to the first 100 people who register.

Admission to the kick-off party is $30 in advance or $40 at the door. Students 18 and younger and military personnel can buy advance tickets for $20 or pay $30 at the event.

There will be a raffle for a chance to win a Gary Guyton ultimate NFL gift pack, which includes a signed Patriots helmet, authentic jersey and NFL football.

On March 12, Guyton will conduct a series of camps starting with a football and cheerleading camp at 9 a.m. at BI. At noon on March 12, an advanced football and cheerleading camp will be offered to students in grades seven through 12.

Both camps are free but limited to the first 100 football players and 25 cheerleaders who register.

Guyton also will again host the "Amazing Sports Race" where teams of three to four people put their athletic and mental skills to the test with a series of challenges.

The fee for the "Amazing Sports Race" is $100 at the gold team level, which includes four autographed Gary Guyton NFL jerseys, or $20 at the silver team level, which includes four autographed Gary Guyton T-shirts.

Festival participants will have opportunities to get Guyton’s autograph and pose for photos with him and a few guest NFL celebrities.
