Liberty County welcomed its first babies of 2011 into the world this past weekend.
Izabella Johnson was the county’s first baby of the year. Baby Izabella was born at 2:53 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 1, to Daniel and Tana Johnson at Winn Army Community Hospital on Fort Stewart. She weighed 7 pounds and 6.2 ounces and measured 19 inches long. Her father is assigned to the 135th Quartermaster Company, 87th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 3rd Sustainment Brigade.
Drayden Alexander Brown was born at 2:21 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, to Spc. Misty Brown and Sgt. Theodore Brown and two older brothers, Zayvion and Tre, at Winn Army Community Hospital on Fort Stewart. Baby Drayden’s parents are both assigned to the 3rd Aviation Regiment. He weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces and measured 19 inches long.
Shelley Moffett, 23, was the first woman in 2011 to deliver a baby at Liberty Regional Medical Center. Her daughter, Angel Thomas, was born at 3:22 a.m.
Sunday, Jan. 2, although Moffett’s original due date was Jan. 19.
Baby Angel, who weighed 5 pounds and 7 ounces, also is welcomed by her father, Archie Thomas Jr., and her older brother, Archie Thomas, 1.
“This feels good. I never thought I would be the first one to give birth in the New Year,” Moffett said. “I kind of thought I would be the second or third because there were a lot of other women who were pregnant in the hospital.”
