The Long County High School girls basketball team lost 60-30 to Tattnall County on Tuesday.
Jameka Boyd and Shameka Richardson led Long County with 12 points each. Miranda McDowell scored 4 points and Toni Johnson added 2 points for the Lady Tide (0-10).
“We’re still doing all we can to get better toward the end of the year so we can compete at the region tournament,” coach Ryan Bailey said. “We’ve made tremendous strides from the beginning of the season and we are getting better.
“Now the ladies know what their role is on the team, and I’m trying to get them playing to the best of their ability. Anything to help them with their fundamentals, we’re doing,” he said.
Though the Lady Tide is struggling, Bailey said the team is still giving him a good effort and has a positive attitude. The coach also said the players support each other and increasing that support is one of his primary goals.
“I want to build up as much team camaraderie as I can. I want them to play hard for themselves, but play even hard for each other,” Bailey said.
The ladies are at Pierce County tonight. The Lady Bears currently have a 2-7 overall record and a 2-5 mark in Region 2-AA. The game in Blackshear starts at 6:30 p.m.
