Savannah High took control of the basketball game from the opening seconds and didn’t let go until the end, downing visiting Bradwell 77-46 in Savannah Friday night.

The Blue Jackets dominated the Tigers on both ends of the court. Savannah’s furious defense forced Bradwell to move the ball very fast, which created turnovers the Blue Jackets capitalized on.

"I told them in the pregame meeting that we had to play with intensity, block out on the boards and make our free throws to have a chance. Savannah is a good team but we still came out timid in the first half. Savannah came out much more aggressive than us and it showed," Bradwell coach Pete Woodard said.

Bradwell trailed Savannah 20-6 at the end of the first quarter. The fast-paced Blue Jackets continued their run in the second quarter to build a 39-15 lead at the half.

Despite the lopsided Blue Jacket margin, the Tigers fought until the end of the game.

Savannah began to trade out line ups and Bradwell began to have some success in the transition game. In the fourth quarter the Tigers started to have some success with their inside game.

"Towards the end of the game, when the score was pretty much out of control, we started to play more aggressively. We needed to play with that type aggressiveness the whole game, though," Woodard said.

Tigers sophomore Cameron Kight had 9 points to lead Bradwell scorers. Rodney Hawkins contributed 8 points. Anthony Campbell had 7 points and Miguel Pineda drained to two 3-pointers to finish with 6 points.

Bradwell falls to 1-11 on the season and will host 3-AAAAA region member Benedictine Saturday night.
