Bradwell Institute kept its perfect season intact Saturday with a 68-16 win over host Long County in a nonregion matchup.

The No. 9 Lady Tigers improved to 18-0. Long County fell to 0-17.

Bradwell led from the outset and outscored the Lady Tide 42-3 in the second and third periods to build an insurmountable 59-9 lead headed into the final period.

"We were clearly over-matched with Class AAAAA Bradwell," Long County coach Ryan Bailey said. "I thought our effort was decent tonight, but we still have to keep working on our fundamentals… layups, rebounds, boxing out, free throws. We have to keep working to get better so that in the region playoffs we can be competitive."

Despite the blowout win, Bradwell coach Faye Baker also found reason for concern.

"We were a little sluggish in the first half, and missed some easy shots we should have made," Baker said. "Those are big, because in a close game they can make a difference. Every game, even ones we win, we talk about the things that we didn’t do well, things that we can work on to make us better."

Mariah Maternik had a game-high 21 points for BI, which also got 8 points from Quintunya Chapman.

Jameka Boyd led the Lady Tide with five points while Miranda McDowell chipped in with four.

Both teams played Tuesday night.
