Immediately after Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle spoke Friday at a luncheon, the audience was invited to the site where the new Liberty College & Career Academy foundation will be laid. The group prayed over the land as a wind shook the banner bearing the LCCA’s new logo.
“This is a great day … we’re so excited that you’re here to celebrate with us,” BoE Vice Chairwoman Verdell Jones said. “Help us, support us and, most of all, support our young people.”
Jones reminded the audience that the barren ground was not just ground to be looked at, but solid proof of how visions come to life when the right people work together.
Cagle also briefly spoke to the audience and reaffirmed his excitement for the development of the new campus.
“I know that Liberty County will put all of its resources and talents behind it,” he said. “The future is bright for Liberty County — you guys are really great visionaries.”
Several educators and officials took to the field wearing white hard hats, grasping shovels and posing for pictures before officially breaking ground on the project as the audience erupted in cheers and applause.
