Hinesville Police Department blotter

POSTED: April 5, 2011 7:00 a.m.

March 29
• Officers detained two juveniles possessing stolen bicycles. The juveniles, residents of Walthourville, were returned home with curfew warnings and the bicycles were placed into evidence.

• During a traffic stop for failure to obey a stop sign, officers recovered narcotics contraband on a passenger in the vehicle. The passenger attempted to conceal a glass pipe in her mouth and was slightly injured by the pipe when it broke as she tried to resist giving it up.

• A juvenile was stopped while walking on government property near Dhurahn Drive, in the vicinity of recently burglarized properties; the juvenile was detained after officers determined he had a probation violation.

• Officers recovered narcotics contraband during a traffic stop for a window tint violation. A passenger who switched places with the driver after being pulled over was found to be carrying multiple bags of a substance believed to be marijuana and a digital scale.

March 30
• An unattended juvenile was found standing outside on Whitetail Circle. Responding officers located the juvenile’s residence and contacted the parents. The child’s mother said the juvenile should have been in the care of a grandparent. The grandparent, who returned to the residence after running errands, told officers she thought the child was in the care of the child’s father. The case was referred to DFCS.

• Officers responded to a report of a prowler on Little John Road. After searching the area they spotted two juveniles, both of whom were detained after attempting to evade officers.
