A Midway man was killed last Wednesday in a single-vehicle accident on Isle of Wight road in Midway.
According to a Georgia State Patrol report filed by Trooper G. Walters, Duane Keon Tate, 30, was traveling east on Isle of Wight road shortly after 1 a.m. in a 1995 Dodge Caravan. Tate attempted to negotiate a curve when he apparently lost control of the vehicle and traveled 56 feet off the road. He likely overcorrected and traveled another 126 feet, where the vehicle struck a ditch and Tate was ejected from the van.
Tate, who reportedly lived on Islands Highway, was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, according to the report. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident still is under investigation.
