The Long County High School baseball team (7-14) won its second consecutive game, knocking off Appling County, 5-3, on Friday.

The Blue Tide’s victory keeps their slim playoff hopes alive.

Long County still mathematically is in contention for the fourth playoff spot in Region 2-AA with a 2-10 region mark. But the team has to win all four of its remaining region games and get some help from other teams.

Also contending for the No. 4 spot are Brantley County (6-4), Toombs County (6-5), Tattnall County (6-6) and Vidalia.

The Tide play at McIntosh County Academy on Tuesday.
