New Blue Tide head football coach Ron Flott will meet with members of the community during a forum at
6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Long County High School gym.

"I want to try to establish a culture of winning (at Long County)," Flott said. "I love coaching football and love working with young people. Looking at the program as a whole, I think me coming here is a good fit."

According to Long County High School athletic director Karen Swindell, Flott will hold the meeting to reach out to any students who may want to play football and also parents who want more information on the football program.

Swindell said that Flott will share his vision for Blue Tide football.

Some of the areas to be covered at the forum include Flott’s coaching philosophy, proposed fundraising activities, the importance of community support and program expectations over the next few years, Swindell said.

The coach also will talk about team policies and the importance of being committed, she said.

Swindell said the new coach has experience with several winning programs.

Flott had a 49-43 career record as a head coach while at Southeast Bulloch from 1997-2005, according to the Georgia High School Football Historians Association website.

Swindell said Flott understands how important hard work and dedication are to establish a successful program.

Swindell ecnouraged members of the football booster club, corporate sponsors, alumni and anyone in the public who has an interest in the Blue Tide football program to attend the meeting to get a glimpse of the future of the team.

Flott was chosen as the Coastal Empire Coach of the Year in 2002 by the Savannah Morning News and Region 3 Athletic Director of the Year in 2003.

Flott has a Bachelor’s degree from St. Leo University and a Master’s degree in education and leadership from Georgia Southern University.
