The Long County Chamber of Commerce will hold a golf tournament Saturday at the Cherokee Rose Golf Course in Hinesville.  Registration for the event will begin at noon, and the first tee-off is at 1:30 p.m.
Trophies will be given for the top three teams, but duffers also will have a shot at a prize with a special award given to the team that finishes last.
“This is our first golf tournament that we’ve put together, and we want golfers of all levels to feel comfortable coming out. That’s why we also are giving our ‘Dead Last’ trophy out,” Chamber president Kerry Hunt said. “We’re giving the team that comes in last the same recognition as those teams that come in first through third, and we know everyone who comes out will have a good time,” Hunt said.
A meal will be provided during the awards ceremony. The cost to enter the tournament is $40 per person, and a hole can be sponsored for $50.
Proceeds from the tournament will fund the Long County Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Program, the Long County Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting, the STAR Student Program, Trunk or Treat and the Long County Relay for Life.
For more information, call Hunt at 545-2101 or 294-2746.
