Milton-Jones among elite in WNBA annals

Former Bradwell Institute and University of Florida star DeLisha Milton-Jones is one of several WNBA players folks can vote for in the WNBA’s contest to determine the league’s top 15 players of all time.

Former Bradwell Institute basketball standout DeLisha Milton-Jones still reigns supreme in the WNBA while playing for the Los Angeles Sparks.
Now Milton-Jones, a Riceboro native, is one of several WNBA players folks can vote for in this year’s contest to pick the Top 15 WNBA players of all time.
Milton-Jones is a two-time WNBA All-Star and has won two championships in three trips to the WNBA finals.
She is 11th in career rebounding with 2,075 and 11th in points with 4,466. Milton-Jones is 13th in blocked shots with 282, according to the WNBA. 
Milton-Jones also won Olympic gold medals as a member of the U.S. women’s basketball team in 2000 and 2008.
On June 21, Milton-Jones had a season-high 27 points and had a key late steal to push the Sparks to a 96-91 win over the New York Liberty in a rematch of the league’s inaugural game.
She also had six rebounds in the game, according to allheadlinesnews.com.
Milton-Jones played college ball at Florida, where she won the Wade Trophy in 1997 as the top women’s player in the nation. Milton-Jones also was named the SEC player of the year in 1997, according to her biography on www.wnba.com.
She was selected No. 4 overall in the 1999 WNBA draft by the Sparks and spent her first six seasons in Los Angeles.
She was later traded to the Washington Mystics and spent three seasons there before returning to the Sparks in 2008.
