Insurance Commissioner John W. Oxendine has announced he has revoked the licenses of three agents for violating the Military Sales regulations the Commissioner recently enacted to protect soldiers from unscrupulous solicitation.
Agents Dexter L. Steverson of Hinesville, Carl Dickerson of Columbus and John T. McGhee of Midland, all had their licenses to sell insurance revoked in separate orders.
All of the agents had been selling at Fort Benning, and have been barred from that base by military authorities.
On Sept. 1, Georgia became one of the first states to adopt new regulations —120-2-95 — to protect military recruits from deceptive or misleading life insurance sales practices or products.
Oxendine has spearheaded a national investigation into sales of certain life companies and their agents when marketing policies and other financial products to active duty servicemen.
