SAVANNAH — Walthourville Councilmember Luciria Luckey Lovette was elected second vice president of the Georgia Municipal Association’s 12th district during the association’s annual summer convention June 27 in Savannah. More than 2,000 elected officials from across the state were in attendance.
District 12 includes Screven, Bulloch, Chatham, Liberty, Long, Bryan, McIntosh, Glynn and Camden counties.
Created in 1933, GMA is the only state organization that represents municipal governments in Georgia. Based in Atlanta, GMA is a voluntary, nonprofit organization that provides legislative advocacy, educational, employee benefit and technical consulting services to its members.
GMA’s membership currently totals 512 municipal governments, accounting for more than 99 percent of the state’s municipal population. A 56-member board of directors, composed of city officials, governs GMA. Program implementation is charged to the executive director and staff of more than 80 full-time employees.
“Councilmember Lovette has been actively involved with GMA trainings and conferences for several years now,” said Janice Eidson, the liaison for GMA’s 12th district. “She will be a great addition to the elected leadership of the association and will represent Walthourville and District 12 well.”
